How many villages disappeared in Belarus last year

Every year, the bulletin "Changes in the Names of Geographical Objects of the Republic of Belarus" is published in the country. One of the sections is dedicated to objects that have ceased to exist, writes Myfin.

According to data published on the website of the "Belgeodeziya" enterprise, decisions were made in Belarus last year to abolish:

For a number of objects, decisions were made at the end of 2025 and came into force at the beginning of 2026.

In addition, some village councils were abolished. For example, Varnovsky village council (Korma district) disappeared — settlements were transferred to Korotkovsky village council. Settlements of Orekhovsky village council (Malorita district) were transferred to Altushsky village council.

The railway stop Razlogi (Postavy district) also ceased to exist.

At the same time, in 2025, a new settlement was officially registered in Belarus — the khutor Izumrudny in Glubokoe district of Vitebsk region.
