Medvedev Becomes Russia's Prime Minister

His candidacy was proposed by Putin and approved by the Parliament.

Russian Parliament (Duma) elected Dmitry Medvedev Russia's prime minister on may 8. 299 (to be elected he needed 226) deputies voted for candidacy and 144 against; no one abstained. Medvedev's candidacy was approved even though he didn't received constitutional majority of two-thirds vote.

Medvedev will become the official Prime Minister when Vladimir Putin signs his presidential decree.
