“Test Walk” Gathers 15,000 in Moscow
Russian opposition organized an action inspired by “silent protests” in Belarus.
“Test Walk”, a silent protest action without any banners and slogans, gathered thousands of people in Pushkinskaya square in Moscow. The participants only walked and applauded one another from time to time, the same way it happened during “silent protests” in Minsk one year ago.
Russia Today reports about 10,000 participants. RFE/RL and Gazeta.ru increases this number up to 15,000.
The action was initiated by a group of famous Russian writers who wanted to test whether it is still possible to walk in Moscow without being oppressed by the authorities. This is the main reason to call the action “Test Walk” says Victor Shenderovich.
“Test Walk” gathered many famous Russian literary and art workers, civil society activists and journalists.
