Belarusian Statistics System Examined by International Experts

A team of international experts is staying in Belarus on 22-27 October to perform an adapted global assessment of the national statistics system of the Republic of Belarus, Press Secretary of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus Aliena Kandracienka said.
The experts are expected to determine the compliance of Belarus’ statistics system with international and European standards and norms regarding statistics. The experts will also work out recommendations to further improve the Belarusian statistics system. The mission includes five experts representing the Statistics Service of the European Union (Eurostat), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and the European Free Trade Association.
The international experts are busy examining the organization of state statistic surveys, the planning of state statistic activities, and the distribution of statistic information. Central and regional statistics bodies will provide them with complete data regarding all the steps involved in getting statistics data for every statistics branch.
As part of the visit the experts will meet with respondents and various groups of users of statistics information. The experts are meeting with representatives of central and regional government agencies, the scientific community, mass media and other users.
