KGB Denies Former Minsk Office Chief Suicide
Belarusian news portal Charter’97 says it learned from an anonymous source that the former chief of the Minsk and Minsk region office of Belarusian Committee for State Security (KGB) Ihar Cyhankou committed suicide shooting himself dead with a shotgun.
However, the KGB’s Centre for Information and Public Relations told Nasha Niva that “this is fabrication and abominable lies.”
Major General Ihar Kuzniacou has been the head of the Institute of the National Security since 2011. When he was the chief of the KGB’s in Minsk, he was known for his pressure on youth organization Young Front.
“He ran over Young Front just like a tank and he was very proud of this,” former KGB officer Aliaksandr Bahaniou told in an interview with Nasha Niva.
