Bandarenka: Sannikau Could Either Return to Prison or Do Nothing
Andrej Sannikau’s associate and also a former political prisoner Zmicier Bandarenka — who stays in Poland since early September — commented on Andrej Sannikau’s decision to apply for a political asylum in the United Kingdom.
“I think it is a sound decision. He had a choice of either to return to prison or to do nothing. Sannikau was and is the leader of the opposition. We need him alive and healthy.”
Did he consult you on the matter?
“I stay in Warsaw, he stays in the UK. We haven’t seen each other for months. But we discussed different issues, and this too.”
“Andrejs’ family are hostages. But I think his decision will help Andrej to unite with Iryna and Danik [Andrej Sannikau’s wife and daughter] sooner.”
