A Libyan man diagnosed with dementia who went missing in Minsk in mid-April was found dead in a forest near Zaslawskaye reservoir, an artificial lake some 10 kilometers northwest of the capital city, on April 30.

According to Sviatlana Kabkova, spokesperson for the Centralny district police department.

39-year-old Shahud Mustafa Suleiman, who had arrived in Minsk together with several hundred fellow Libyans for a respite break, is believed to have died of hypothermia.

Up to 450 Libyan people are estimated to have arrived in Minsk on two flights on April 16 and 18 for the break, which had been organized under a bilateral agreement. Some of them were accommodated in the Planieta and Arbita hotels, while the rest, mostly those who arrived with family members, were provided by the Libyan embassy with rented apartments in downtown Minsk.

Mr. Suleiman was accommodated together with his sister and nephew at an apartment on Zaslawskaja Street upon their arrival after midnight on April 18. His relatives found him missing in the morning.

The man, who did only three years at school, worked as a street cleaner in his homeland and spoke barely even his mother tongue.
