Belarus and Ukraine Lift Restrictions on Beer, Meat and Milk
All restrictions in mutual trade to be removed.
First Vice-Premier of Belarus Uladzimir Siamashka and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko agreed to remove all restrictions in mutual trade, which had previously been introduced in Minsk and Kiev for Ukrainian and Belarusian beer, meat and dairy products.
“Today, we're closing the topic of beer. There is a small organizational issue, but on the whole the question is closed,” said the deputy of the Belarusian government.
According to Petr Poroshenko, the Belarusian side made concessions to Ukraine in the field of pricing and customs clearance of imported beer, while the Ukrainian side, in response, opened access for ten Belarusian producers of meat and dairy products to its market.
Belarus introduced restrictions on imports of Ukrainian beer in 2010 due to the fact that it was sold in the country at lower prices than those in Belarus. Subsequently, the Ukrainian companies were allowed to deliver its beer in Belarus only at a price agreed with the Belarusian state food concern Bieldziarzhkharchpram.
