The strongest cold snap of the season may await us, temperatures could drop below -30°C
From January 30, the weather in our country will begin to be determined by the southern periphery of the Scandinavian anticyclone, which will initiate the movement of cold air from the northern European territory of Russia, reports the Telegram channel «Meteovibe».
Firstly, an even colder core from the Kara Sea will merge into the anticyclone.
Secondly, an active southern cyclone will begin to shift and deepen from the Black Sea towards the Volga region. Its rear part will strengthen the movement of even more frigid Arctic air to the southwest.

As a result, during the weekend and early next week, a very cold air mass with a negative temperature anomaly of 15‑20 °C and more will begin to flow into Belarus. There is a high probability of daily minimum temperature records.
According to ECMWF model data, up to -25 °C is expected in the north on Saturday night, and -21…-27 °C in most regions on Sunday, with some areas reaching -30 °C.
And at the beginning of the week, thermometer readings in some places may drop below -30 °C.

Meanwhile, the coldest night of this winter was January 14. At the «Vialiki Miežnik» meteorological station in the Shklov district, it was minus 29.7°C.
Then, for several nights, the coldest region was the Klichaw — Babruysk area, where temperatures reached minus 27°C.
