The Russian military department has for the first time officially confirmed that Ukraine has begun using its newest "Flamingo" cruise missiles for strikes deep inside Russia.

Today's report states that Russian air defense systems shot down five such missiles during the day. This happened for the first time, although Kyiv stated back in January about successful launches at the "Kapustin Yar" training ground.

This time, the target of the attack was a huge military arsenal in the Kotluban area, Volgograd region. This is one of the largest ammunition depots of the Russian army. From the territory controlled by Ukraine to this depot is about 500 kilometers.

The General Staff of the AFU confirmed that the strike was carried out specifically with "Flamingo" missiles. Video footage from the scene shows large-scale explosions, and local authorities were forced to urgently evacuate residents of the village. The regional governor stated that all missiles were allegedly shot down, and the fire started due to "falling debris" on the territory of the military unit.

So what is this "Flamingo"? This is a Ukrainian development that was first loudly discussed in the summer of 2025. The most impressive thing about it is its range. Developers claim that the missile can fly more than 3 thousand kilometers. This means that almost the entire European part of Russia, up to the Urals, could be under attack.
