Iran is considering offering Donald Trump large-scale investment projects in the country's oil and gas sector to ease tensions and reach an agreement on its nuclear program, reports Financial Times.

According to Financial Times, ideas that should interest Trump as a businessman are being discussed in Tehran. Sources of the publication claim that it is about a "commercial goldmine" — opportunities for the United States to benefit from investments in the oil and gas industry, mineral extraction, and strategically important minerals. However, an official offer has not yet been sent to Washington.
One of the interlocutors noted that Iran studied the example of Venezuela, where, after contacts with Donald Trump, tensions partially decreased amidst the interest of American companies in oil contracts.
In the US, however, they state that no commercial offers have been received. According to the American side, Trump's position remains unchanged: Iran should not possess nuclear weapons or the capability to create them.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to hold another round of talks in Geneva with Trump's representatives — Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner.
It is noted that Iran is not the only country trying to resolve disputes with Trump through large economic promises. Previously, similar approaches were used by the European Union, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and India.
Russia is also mentioned separately. Vladimir Putin's special envoy Kirill Dmitriev voiced ideas for joint projects with the US worth up to 14 trillion dollars, including the development of Arctic deposits and the construction of a tunnel through the Bering Strait. However, experts consider such figures unrealistic and intended more to attract Trump's attention than for practical implementation.
It was previously reported that Trump had increased the US military presence in the Middle East and given Tehran a limited time to reach an agreement, warning of possible "bad consequences" otherwise.
