Businessman and former senator Umar Dzhabrailov committed suicide in a Moscow hotel.

Dzhabrailov was found in the hotel, a pistol lay next to him.
According to Mash, the businessman was hospitalized in serious condition; he was only identified by arriving security guards.
Dzhabrailov was one of the most influential Chechens in Russian public life. In 2000, he even ran for president of Russia. At various times, he had romances with Naomi Campbell and Ksenia Sobchak.
Dzhabrailov was 68 years old. He was a member of "United Russia" until 2017. On December 5, 2017, Dzhabrailov was expelled from the party "in accordance with a point in the party's charter for actions discrediting the party and harming its political interests." In June 2017, he was detained for hooliganism in August 2017. In his room, he opened fire with an award pistol. In 2020, he already had a suicide attempt.
