Head of the Belarusian Diaspora in Crimea Spoke in Support of Russian Aggression Against Ukraine
Raman Chahrynets, chairman of the council of the regional national-cultural autonomy "Belarusians of Crimea," made pro-Russian statements in Minsk, noted "Svaboda."

Among other things, Raman Chahrynets stated that the day of Crimea's reunification with Russia allegedly should also be celebrated in Belarus.
"The Day of Crimea's Reunification with Russia is a public holiday in the Russian Federation. We live in a common state called a union state, so I am sure that this holiday is important not only for Crimea and Russia, but, of course, for Belarus as well. After all, the Crimean Spring became a turning point, in my opinion, in the geopolitical life of the world," said Raman Chahrynets.
A recording of his statement was published on the Telegram channel "Russian House in Minsk," where a round table on the topic "Crimean Spring: experience of integration, humanitarian, cultural, political, and economic aspects" took place two days ago.
According to Chahrynets, the Crimean events of 2014 allegedly shifted processes around the world.
"The world is changing. Yes, Crimeans contributed to this. Crimea is a clear example of how, absolutely without a single shot, solely by the decision and will of the people, such a large territory can be returned to its homeland. Crimeans made their choice, and the referendum showed that this choice was absolutely correct," said the head of the Crimean organization of Belarusians.
Why Chahrynets' statement is untrue
Russia annexed the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol in March 2014, when Ukraine was weakened by prolonged protests against the then-authorities' decision to halt Ukraine's European integration. Prior to this, Russia deployed its troops and military equipment without insignia to Crimea.
The illegal referendum organized by pro-Russian forces in Crimea took place under Moscow's direction and under the supervision of armed "little green men," who, as Putin later admitted, were representatives of the Russian army.
Kyiv and Western countries did not recognize this fictitious referendum and the annexation of Crimea.
During the illegal actions in Crimea, armed Russian forces seized government buildings, military garrisons and naval ships, the airport, and other facilities.
During the assault on the parliament of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, two civilians died, and during the seizure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces center in Simferopol, one Ukrainian serviceman and one civilian were killed.
