“Towball Heads”: Psychedelic Artifact from Soviet Era

The wish to prevent towballs from getting rusty begot a separate cultural tradition.

The time of the origin of this tradition is unknown. Probably, the doll heads on the towballs are the product of the creativity begotten by the total deficit of the Soviet era. It is also unknown why definitely gum toys performed the protective functions.

Today, towballs are usually equipped with special protection caps. However, the practical need turned into a real post-Soviet cultural artifact and “towball heads” may be found in Belarus even today.
