District newspapers also started luring audiences to the Russian messenger Max
Newspapers of district executive committees in the Homiel region and other state resources have massively started posting links in Telegram to their channels in the Russian messenger Max, inviting readers to become subscribers on this platform. For example, on March 4, the newspaper "Mayak" of the Homiel District Executive Committee placed such an announcement. Some other publications did this earlier, writes "Flagshtok".

Such a trend looks like the execution of a centralized directive from above. This is happening against the backdrop of information about the preparation for a complete blocking of Telegram in Russia. Perhaps state media are creating their channels in the Russian messenger in case such a blocking later occurs in Belarus as well.
Something similar already happened when state resources opened channels in the Russian RuTube, but soon abandoned them because the platform failed to become popular.
It is also possible that the popularization of Max could be carried out with the aim of drawing in the Belarusian audience for greater dissemination of propaganda and conducting hidden surveillance.
We wrote earlier about the trend of creating and popularizing accounts in Max by central Belarusian state media.
