Macron arrived on a visit to the aircraft carrier and flagship of the French Navy "Charles de Gaulle"
On March 9, French President Emmanuel Macron, after his visit to Cyprus, arrived aboard the aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle" (R91) in the Mediterranean Sea. According to the French president, the decision to deploy the aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean was made to protect French citizens in the region.

Macron stated that France is not involved in the conflict in the Middle East.
"France is not involved in the ongoing conflict... Furthermore, your presence is aimed at protecting our allies and friends. In particular, Cyprus," Macron stated aboard the aircraft carrier.
It was previously reported that France is to lead the European Union naval mission "Aspides", which will clear the way for oil and gas supplies from the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz.
