In Ukraine, a banker published a photo of a client who was undergoing verification «against the background of the Russian flag» and got into a scandal
Oleg Horokhovsky, co-founder of the Ukrainian online bank monobank, found himself at the center of a loud scandal after publishing a photo of one of the clients on the Threads social network. The photo was taken by bank employees during video verification to unblock the account.

Horokhovsky published his post on March 9, but later deleted it.
“A client contacted us for video verification with a question about why her account was blocked. We told her it was because her hair was unwashed,” Horokhovsky captioned the photo of the bank user.
The very next day, a post appeared on social media in which the girl stated that it was her photo that Horokhovsky had published. She claims that the flag in the background was Slovenia's, not Russia's.
The girl also added that she was not at home and, she claims, did not pay attention to what was hanging on the wall.
“But I want to say one thing: this is the flag of Slovenia. This person, without understanding the situation, allowed himself to expose me to public view. I in no way support the aggressor country. My whole family is fighting. I was born in Ukraine and I love it,” she wrote.
Later, serviceman and founder of the VidełkaFest festival Serhiy Hniazdilov stated that he spoke with the girl whose photograph Horokhovsky had published.
According to him, she said that in 2023, she and her mother left Kharkiv for Slovenia, where they received refugee status. The following year she moved to Germany, where she lives now.
«I was at a friend's house, who is from Slovenia, she is a student, and she really has the Slovenian flag hanging. I didn't expect the video identification to happen so quickly, so I ran into the room where the flag was. They told me that the decision to unblock the card would be made within the next 24 hours. In the morning, my mom called me and said that I 'am very famous now',» Hniazdilov quotes the girl's words.
He also claims to have discussed the situation with Horokhovsky himself. Reportedly, the latter is 100% convinced that «the flag is Russian, and the girl is lying.»
In addition to the flag on the Monobank user's wall, social networks also began discussing a possible violation of personal data protection due to the publication of her photograph.
