Minister of Information Declared Desire to Popularize Russian Language
Belarus is ready to become a platform for significant international events aimed at popularizing the Russian language. This was stated by Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets in Moscow at a conference of the International Organization for the Russian Language.

“The Republic of Belarus, represented by the Ministry of Education and other ministries, is fully prepared not only to support and participate in all initiatives that will be put forward on the platform of the International Organization for the Russian Language, but also to put forward its own initiatives. We have something to share, we have something to offer, so we would very much like Belarus to become a platform for significant, important events aimed at popularizing and expanding the use of the Russian language,” said Andrei Ivanets.
“As our President Alexander Lukashenka has repeatedly emphasized, the Russian language is as native to the Republic of Belarus as the Belarusian language. That is why, at the dawn of its independence, the Belarusian people made their choice, and the Russian language is one of the state languages in our country,” noted the minister.
He assured that Belarus would be the most active participant in the organization. “There is no doubt that the Russian language is not only the basis of our communication, but also largely our cultural code, part of our common history and cultural space,” added Andrei Ivanets.
