Swindlers tricked a Minsk pensioner out of money, promising to return it in three months with interest
The woman did not contact the police since September, as she was waiting for her money
A 74-year-old Minsk resident received a call from a stranger in September, who informed her that she had accidentally become an accomplice to a crime, "Minsk Police" writes.
He said that the woman was facing criminal liability and a search, during which all her savings would be discovered.
To save the money, the Minsk resident was advised to declare it. The woman agreed and handed over 13 thousand dollars to a young man, whom the supervisors introduced as a freelance courier for the National Bank.
After this, the scammers convinced the pensioner by phone that her savings had been transferred to a special account for safety and would be returned to their owner with interest in three months.
All this time, the fraudsters maintained contact with her, asked about her health, and assured her that everything was going according to plan.
But when the money was not returned at the appointed time, the Minsk resident realized that she had become a victim of a crime.
Threatened servicemen with outing them as homosexuals to extort secrets and sell them to Ukraine. This is why the odious BRSM functionary received 17 years in prison
