Tanker with Saudi oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz, despite the blockade by Iran
The tanker temporarily turned off its transponder and only resumed transmitting a signal near the coast of India.

A large oil tanker passed through the Strait of Hormuz for the first time in several days, despite the tense situation in the region.
The vessel Shenlong, managed by a Greek company, is transporting about one million barrels of Saudi oil, Bloomberg reports. According to the agency, during its passage through the strait, the tanker temporarily turned off its transponder and only resumed transmitting a signal near the coast of India, writes Bild.
The vessel's passage is seen as the first sign that individual carriers are again starting to use this strategically important route, through which a significant portion of global oil supplies passes.
At the same time, most shipping companies still avoid the Strait of Hormuz due to the risk of conflict escalation in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the key points of global energy: a significant portion of daily seaborne oil supplies from Persian Gulf countries passes through it. Any disruptions to shipping in this area usually immediately affect global energy prices.
