Schoolchildren are allowed to make up to three corrections in written works
The Ministry of Education of Belarus has introduced changes to the rules for assessing schoolchildren's written works in Belarusian and Russian languages, writes BelTA.

Previously, any corrections made by a student automatically affected the grade — it was lowered. Now, according to the new norms (Resolution of the Ministry of Education No. 43 dated February 21, 2026), it is allowed to make up to three corrections without lowering the grade. If a student makes three or more corrections in control or thematic independent works, all of them are counted as one error.
The grade for these subjects is given taking into account spelling and punctuation errors: in the spelling of words, placement of punctuation marks, formation of word forms, and structure of sentences and phrases. The main goal of the changes is to create conditions in which students will feel confident and not be afraid to make mistakes.
The new norms came into force on September 1, 2025, and apply to all control and thematic independent works in Belarusian and Russian languages. However, in other subjects, a reduction in the grade for student corrections is not provided.
