Sand at the price of tiles: Baranavichy resident shocked by building material prices

Belarusians are discussing the rise in prices for building materials and strange regional differences.

Sand prices in Baranavichy have reached 1,000 rubles per truck. A resident of Baranavichy published his outrage on Threads, and the post quickly gathered dozens of comments from people across the country, writes BGmedia.

«Sand at the price of expensive paving slabs,» — writes the author.

According to him, a truckload costs about 800 rubles, and sometimes the price reaches 1000. And, as he notes, even for such money, you still need to find a supplier.

Users in the comments confirm: prices have indeed risen and continue to rise. Some try to explain the situation.

«The sand itself is not expensive. Delivery is expensive. That's where the problem lies».

«They bring it from Zelva, our quarry has been closed».

But most are much more critical. People write directly: the market has been «inflated,» and prices are «sky-high.»

Users are especially surprised by the price difference between regions.

In Baranavichy, they quote 800–1000 rubles per truck.

In Hrodna, according to commentators, you can find it for 250–300 rubles.

In Vawkavysk — 10 tons for 180 rubles with delivery.

In Homel — 30 tons for 350 rubles.

In Minsk region — 800 rubles for 10 tons, but there are also cheaper offers — 580 for 20 tons.

Such a difference raises the main question: where do such markups come from? Some users are convinced that it's not just about logistics.

«Here it's 30% more expensive than normal prices.» «Sand is sky-high. It's not worth that much money.» «Cement too: it should be around 7.5 rubles, but they sell it for 10–11.»

People are increasingly saying that they are being «slightly cheated,» especially those who are just starting construction and are not familiar with the market.

A separate topic is the closure of local quarries. Users write that because of this, sand has to be transported from other regions, which automatically increases the cost. «The quarry was closed — the price immediately skyrocketed,» — they note in the comments.

And this, according to many, is just the beginning. People expect prices for other building materials — concrete, cement, and dry mixes — to also rise.

Amidst the discussion, calls for action are also heard. Some advise contacting MARG to check the justification of prices. But others are skeptical: saying that the market has long been living by its own rules.
