US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy Iranian power plants if Tehran does not open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.
"If Iran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz, abandoning threats, within 48 hours from this moment, the United States of America will strike and destroy their various power plants, starting with the largest!" — Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump published the message at 23:44 GMT on March 21. This means that Iran has until 23:44 GMT on March 23 (02:44 in Minsk on March 24) to open the strait.
Iran, in turn, threatens to strike US-linked energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf region if Iran's fuel and energy facilities are attacked.
Earlier, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the US "wiped Iran off the map."
He refutes the notion that he failed to achieve his goals in Iran: "Yes, I succeeded, and several weeks earlier than planned. Their leadership is destroyed, their navy and air force are dead, they have absolutely no defense, and they want to make a deal. I — no."
