In Masty district, a man had about 100,000 bees returned to him, which had previously been stolen from his apiary near the village of Damianiški. The 68-year-old owner reported to the police that five bee colonies worth about 1500 rubles had disappeared from him, reports the Department of Internal Affairs of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee.

During the check, it was found that a 70-year-old resident of a neighboring village was involved in the theft. His own bees died in winter, so he decided to "compensate" for the losses by taking others'. The man removed frames with bees from the hives and transported them to his place.

One bee colony during this period can number from 10,000 to 30,000 individuals, so the total number of stolen bees reached about 100,000.

The owner easily recognized his bees, as he himself had made the frames for them. The bees were returned to the owner, and a criminal case was initiated against the suspect for theft.
