Selling Belavia is Only Gossip

Government has no plans to sell airline Belavia, minister says

Belarus does not plan to sell state-owned airline Belavia and intends to add more aircraft to the carrier's fleet, Transport Minister Ivan Shcherba reported on May 3.

The possible sale of Belavia to Russia's largest airline Aeroflot is not under consideration, he stressed. “This possibility is not discussed and will not be discussed by the transport ministry either this or next year,” the government's news agency BelTA quoted him as saying.

The minister promised that Belavia would get more airliners and launch more routes. In particular, he said, at least two planes will be added to the company's fleet this year.
