Russian state-owned oil pipelines operator Transneft is not considering the possibility of Belarusian pipeline system acquisition, said Nikolai Tokarev, the Vice President for Transneft.
“This topic hasn’t been officially discussed with our Belarusian partners. Transneft has never decided to work on this issue. We have never officially announced the possibility of such an acquisition. Even if it arose, it was only an idea. Theoretically, we could do this, but is it necessary?” RIA Novosti quoted Mr. Tokarev.
Previously at the beginning of April, The Vice President of Transneft Mikhail Barkov reported that Transneft might purchase a part of Belarusian oil pipeline Druzhba, but no talks were initiated. Mr. Barkov pointed out it is the political decision that must be done first.
Druzhba oil pipeline is the longest in the world as it counts 6,000 kilometers total.
