Bealrus hopes to conquer prestigious cinema festival.
The 65th Cannes Film Festival started on May 16, 2012. As usual, the festival gathered the delicious motion pictures from all over the world.
Belarus is mentioned twice at this year's Cannes Film Festival: one motion picture came from our country, the other one tells the story of an opposition activist.
This year a Belarusian film titled V Tunane (In the Fog) directed by Siarhiej Loznica is on the competition list of the festival. This film, a joint project of Belarus, Russia, Latvia, Germany and the Netherlands is going to be presented of May 24. In the Fog is going to compete with David Cronenberg, Alaine René and other famous filmmakers for the Palme d'Or. The film will be presented at the Cannes Festival on May 24, writes Euroradio.fm
Viva Bel@rus — not a Belarusian movie but a movie about Belarus — will also be shown in Cannes. It tells the story of a young Belarusian person who is an opposition activist struggling for freedom. The main character was based on a real person, a Belarusian Franak Viachorka. The motion picture will be presented on May 22 and 23.
