Belarus had a $1bln export surplus in trade in goods in the Q1 2012 compared with a deficit of $3.4 billion in the same period of the previous year, according to the National Statistics Committee (Belstat).
Belarus reportedly had a $5,453.1mln deficit of foreign trade in goods in 2011 against a deficit of $9,600.9mln in the previous year.
In the first four months of 2012, Belarus' foreign trade in goods reportedly totaled $31,526.4mln, an 18.6-percent year-on-year increase, with exports amounting to $16,275.5 million, a 40.4-percent increase, and imports to $15,251mln, a 1.7% increase.
Belarus had a deficit of $3,656.5mln in trade with CIS member countries in the first four months of 2012, compared with $3,007.8mln in the same period of 2011. Exports rose by 23.2% to total $7,129.9 million and imports by 22.6 percent to total $10,786.4mln. Trade with CIS countries increased by 22.8% to total $17,916.3mln.
