Negative foreign exchange balance reaches $600mln.
In January–May 2012, Belarusians sold more than $2.7 billion and purchased more than $2.1bln in equivalent. This is evidenced by the statistics of the National Bank of Belarus, released on June 5. The fx sale-purchase balance by population turned out to be negative, making minus $623.3mln.
The residents — subjects of fx transactions — sold about $9.3bln of hard currency in January-May, while bought only $8.3bln (the balance amounted to minus $957.6mln).
Non-residents (banks and subjects of fx transactions) sold $489.3mln of hard currency and purchased $741.8mln during the first five months of 2012 (the balance totaled minus $252.5mln).
