Azaranka is No More World’s First Racket

Official WTA rating published on Monday moves Belarusian tennis star to No. 2.

Belarusian tennis star Viktoryja Azaranka fell on Monday to the No. 2 spot in the WTA women’s rankings after spending 19 weeks as the world's highest-ranked player.

The 22-year-old athlete was replaced at the top of women’s rankings by Maria Sharapova of Russia who won the French Open on June 9.

Ms. Azaranka was unexpectedly beaten by Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova in the fourth round of the Grand Slam tournament.

The Belarusian had been the world’s highest-ranked player since winning the Australian Open, her first Grand Slam title, in late January.
