The National Day of Russia on June 12 was celebrated not only with fests but also with a large-scale opposition rally attended by dozens of thousands of people.
CNN as one of the world’s biggest news networks could not avoid the event such prominent for democratic changes in Russia.
Even Russia’s ex-PM Mikhail Kasyanov commented on the ‘March of Millions’ for CNN.
However, a one small detail looked a bit strange: people gathered in Moscow were wearing… warm coats and caps and breathing out the clouds of steam on June 12.
Maybe Americans did not noticed CNN’s fault — it is the fact of common knowledge that Russian summer is quite that frosty that bears walking on the streets cannot play their balalaikas well.
However, Russian bloggers understood that CNN simply used the footage of the winter opposition rally in Moscow.
CNN does not comment the issue and the video is still available on CNN’s web site, unchanged.
It is not the first time when CNN mix the facts. Thus, the riot at Manezhnaya Square — triggered by Russian nationalist football fans — that occurred in 2010 was caused by Moscow’s intention to alter time zones.
