The parliament of Moldova adopted the law that prohibits the USSR flag and hammer and sickle as “symbols of totalitarian regime”. Nazi and fascist symbols are also prohibited for display in Moldova.
The leader of liberals Mihai Ghimpu assured that neither the word ‘communist’ nor Communist party is not controlled by the newly adopted law. The sanctions are introduced only against the symbols of currently not existing state.
Moldova was joined to the USSR in accordance with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Same as in other occupied states, the USSR consistently eradicated national elites, wealthy citizens and business persons.
