Belarusian swimming star Aliaksandra Hierasimienia, 26, won silver in the women's 100 meters freestyle at the London Olympics on Thursday.
The reigning world champion clocked a time of 53.38 seconds, 0.38 second behind the winner, Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands, who won with an Olympic record. China's Tang Yi came third with 53.44 seconds.
Aliaksandra Hierasimienia comments she is glad at winning an Olympic medal, but it’s not the medal she desired. However the athlete promised to work harder to reach her much desired goal.
This became Belarus' second medal at the London Games. Weightlifter Maryna Shkiermankova won bronze on August 1.
