Famous Belarusian artist and craftsman turned 80.
The Museum of Modern Visual Arts in Minsk hosts an exhibition by famous Belarusian traditional artist and craftsman Mikilaj Tarasiuk devoted to his 80th birthday.
Mikalaj Tarasiuk is a People’s Artist of the Republic of Belarus. He is a carver and weaver who works with rods and straw. Mikalaj Tarasiuk also produces some musical instruments.
He was never taught any arts however he has mastered his skills since childhood. Mikalaj Tarasiuk’s works were included into the list of Cultural Properties of Belarus. Some of the works by Mikalaj Tarasiuk criticize Aliaksandr Lukashenka, but the artist is not afraid to display them at state-organized exhibitions.
