Protesting against the Russian Orthodox Church, the topless activist took down the cross installed by Uniates.
FEMEN sewed down a Catholic cross, a Ukrainian Christian organisation has informed.
The cross installed in the centre of Kyiv was the Catholic one which was put by members of the Uniate Church during the Orange Revolution in 2004. The cross was devoted to the victims of the NKVD repressions in the 1920-30’s.
The FEMEN activists, however, sewed down the cross in the protest against the Russian Orthodox Church which is considered one of the main pressure parties in the Pussy Riot case.
The criminal case for hooliganism was initiated by Ukrainian police. However no one has been arrested yet, zn.ua says.
The new cross has already appeared on the spot of the previous one. The current cross is temporary, but the same cross as the destroyed one is going to be installed in a week, pravamir.ru informs.
