“Thaw” in North Korea?
The new ruler of North Korea Kim Jong Un seems to step aside from his father’s and grandfather’s authoritarian policy.
The new Korean leader organized a concert, which, however, significantly differed from any other concerts held in North Korea within few previous dozen years. There were no symphonic orchestra and military-dressed choirs. On the contrary, there were things that could lead one to a prison a decade ago, newtimes.ru says.
Besides traditional North Korean pop singers, band called Moranbong Band performed Strangers In The Night by Frank Sinatra. And... the song was in English.
The giant screen was showing 1985 blockbuster Rocky IV and backup dancers were dressed as Mickey Mouse and Co.
It looks completely strange considering the fact the citizens of North Korea have been taught that all western is the manifestation of evil and decay for decades.
However, now Koreans learned that Morangbond Band was created to Kim John Un’s order.
