Richard Bach Seriously Injured in Plane Crash

Writer Richard Bach remained in serious condition Sunday, recovering from injuries suffered when his small plane clipped power lines and crashed. But his son said he is making marked improvements, Star-Telegram says.

Bach, 76, suffered a head injury and broken shoulder after his single-engine amphibian aircraft went down Friday afternoon about three miles west of Friday Harbor Airport in Washington state.

He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where a nursing supervisor on Sunday said Bach remained in serious condition.

Richard Bach is the author of best-selling novels Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah and Jonathan Livingston Seagull. His books are known for easy perceived philosophy and witty humour. They are also usually somehow connected to aviation and flying: Bach has been a pilot since he was 17.
