Due to the development of capitalism, exorcism gains popularity in Poland.
Several Polish priests build an editorial team for a new magazine Egzorcysta (Exorcist). 15,000 copies of the magazine are going to be issued monthly, AFP says.
The first issue counts 62 pages. “New Age: Vacuum Cleaner of the Spirit” and “Satan is Real” is among the topics. The price for the issue is ca. 2.3 Euros.
Aleksander Posacki, a member of International Catholic Council on Exorcism explains that the number of Polish exorcists has drastically increased within last 15 years. The increase is linked to the development of capitalism. Today, there are more than 120 exorcists in Poland. The exorcism is also gaining popularity: there is 3 month’s queue to make an appointment.
Posacki also mentioned that exorcist used the prayer book approved by John Paul II during the rituals. They also cooperate with psychologists to tell possession from mental illness.
