The amount of FX bought by Belarusians and Belarusian businesses in August exceeds the amount of sold FX, the National Bank says.
Altogether, Belarusians sold $619.6mln in August and bought $716.4mln (what is $96.8mln more that was sold). The both indexes are year’s peeks.
The FX acquisition has been overcoming FX sales for the third month in a row. Private individuals have purchased total $300mln during the period.
Non-resident juridical units now became pure FX buyers again: considering $1bln swap agreement with China, they bought $1.036bln.
Thus, FX purchase–sale balance cunts $220mln (not adding $1bln Belarus-China swap). If such a tendency will remain in the following months, the National Bank of Belarus will have to trade its gold and FX reserves or devaluate the national currency.
