All Alone: No One Came to Meet with Parliamentary Candidate in Mahiliow
Officials say people are still interested in the parliamentary elections campaign.
The meeting with Social-Democrats Party (Hramada) parliamentary candidate Leanid Padbiarecki from Mahiliou, Belarus, was to take place on Monday’s evening. However, no voter came. However, the candidate stays optimistic and hopes for more crowded meeting hall during the next rally, Euroradio says.
The main reasons for absence of any interested, according to Padbiarecki, are not suitable location of the venue and also people’s indifference about candidates and the upcoming parliamentary elections.
However, secretary of the Central Election Commission Mikalaj Lazavik told on Monday that people were still interested in the elections despite some candidates’ withdrawal.
Previously, two parties — the Belarusian Popular Front and the United Civil Party — withdrew some their candidates in protest against undemocratic and not transparent elections.
