Matteo Mecacci, the head of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s observation mission for Belarus’ September 18-23 House of Representatives elections, arrived in Minsk on Wednesday evening.
About 90 short-term observers representing the Assembly are expected to arrive in Belarus on September 20 and 21, and so will some 270 short-term observers of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). Long-term observers of the OSCE/ODIHR have been staying in Belarus since August 21.
The OSCE/ODIHR observation mission is headed by Antonio Milososki, Macedonia’s foreign minister between 2006 and 2011.
