A Belarusian state enterprise under the Presidential office launched a tender to purchase a black iPhone 5 with 64GB of memory via the web portal of budget purchases.
The sum the enterprise is ready to spent totals Br13mln (ca. $1500).
Onliner asked the enterprise administration whether they really need the phone. The answer was positive. However, it is not clarified why a state enterprise needs such a pricy phone.
However, earlier this year Lukashenka ordered Belarusian state audit bodies to monitor incomes and expenses of Belarusians.
“There are loads of automobiles around, mainly new. This happens when the people are poor. Where are they from? [They] Either steal or evade paying taxes!” Lukashenka says.
Lukashenka also told the officials to spare budget money: “No automobiles, no gasoline, no office renovations. They’d better implement some economic project.”
