Francishak Skaryna Bible Brought to Minsk for Display
The Francishak Skaryna Bible issued in Prague in 1517–1519 was presented in the National Library of Belarus.
The book is unique and furthermore it is the only Germany’s copy of the Skaryna Bible. The Skaryna Bible comprises 11 convolute books under one cover. All they were printed by Francishak Skaryna in Prague in 1517–1519. The National Library of Belarus does not possess some of them: thus, the Book of Genesis as well as the two Book of Samuel and the two Books of Kings cannot be found in Belarus.
The book arrived in Belarus from Görlitz scientific library.
Germany ambassador to Belarus Wolfram Maas, Minister of Culture Paviel Latushka and Metropolitan Tadevush Kandrusievich were attended the ceremony.
