Lukashenka calls assessments by certain politicians in Brussels ignorant and biased.
Assessments by certain politicians in Brussels of developments in Belarus are ignorant and biased, Aliaksandr Lukashenka said Friday while accepting credentials from ambassadors of 12 nations.
“We do not accept pressure and interference in internal affairs,” the Belarusian leader stressed, asking the envoys of the European Union’s member countries to take particular note of that.
The European economy is facing serious challenges and some experts even say that there is a threat to the integrity of the EU, Mr. Lukashenka noted. “Under these circumstances, it is more important than ever to bring all countries on the continent together to combat the financial and economic difficulties and new cross-border problems,” he said.
“All concerned and sensible people understand this. They also see that in the vicinity of the European Union, there is a dynamically developing and constructively minded Eurasian integration project. What surprises me in this regard is the ignorance and bias of certain politicians in Brussels, who, by the way, are becoming increasingly disconnected from the real needs of the European nations, in assessing developments in our country.”
The Belarusians are characterized by openness, cordiality, responsiveness, hospitality and peaceful disposition, Mr. Lukashenka said, noting that the country’s foreign policy is based on these qualities.
“We stay committed to a balanced and peaceful policy and are ready for mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries without exception,” he said. “Our credo for relations with foreign partners is an equal dialogue based on mutual respect.”
