He also confessed he likes watching Euronews to know what nasty things they will say about us.”
Aliaksandr Lukashenka said last week that he would be soon interviewed by Britain’s newspaper The Independent.
Lukashenka made the announcement in an interview with the Mir Television and Radio Company of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which was recorded on October 4 and broadcast on October 7 and 8.
In the interview, Lukashenka described Mir, which covers news in the CIS member states, as his favorite TV channel. “I watch it more than Euronews. I have always watched Euronews to know what nasty things they will say about us and react,” he said.
The Belarusian leader said that Mir offered him a glimpse of life in other CIS countries. “There are no [other] sources through which I, a head of state, would know what is happening in Tajikistan, which is led by my friend Emomali Rakhmon. When I tune in to Mir, I not only hear the narration, the reporter’s conversation but also see what is going on in the background, what is in Dushanbe. I know well these cities, I’m not a young politician,” he said.
