It is essential for us to modernize the country and propel it to the list of developed countries, President of Belarus Aliaksandr Lukashenka said at the final joint meeting of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the Fourth Convocation.
“The potential of the current model of statehood is far from being exhausted. Thanks to this model, we have created the first independent Belarusian State. The next big challenge on our agenda is to modernize the country, and make it to the elite club of developed countries. Today someone may think this is a fantasy. But some time ago the idea of Belarus being a sovereign state with its own independent policy also seemed like a dream,” Aliaksandr Lukashenka said.
“Yet, we did it. We are able to achieve other goals. A solid state with a strong presidential power is a necessary instrument in reaching prosperity and wellbeing of our people,” Aliaksandr Lukashenka stressed.
According to the head of state, in the historical perspective the role of the parliament in Belarus will be growing stronger, but this will happen in the wake of the strengthening of the statehood and the maturation of the civil society.
