Belarus has imposed temporary restrictions on imports of poultry from Romania due to the recent outbreak of Newcastle disease in the country.
According to the information provided by the International Office of Epizootics, the case was registered in Tohanu Vechi, Brasov. On October 15, Belarus temporary banned the import of live poultry, incubating eggs, poultry meat and all other kinds of processed poultry, feathers, fodder in order to prevent a spread of the disease.
Newcastle disease is a contagious bird disease affecting domestic and wild avian species. It is transmissible to humans. It causes mild conjunctivitis and influenza-like symptoms.
