Belarusian sport should be raised at a higher level with high results of the Belarusian athletes to become a system, as stated today Head of the Presidential Administration Andrej Kabiakou while introducing a new Minister of Sport and Tourism Aliaksandr Shamko. The President of Belarus has appointed the new minister in the morning on October 31st and demanded to start working immediately.
Andrej Kabiakou noted that the team of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism is lucky to have Aliaksandr Shamko as their new Minister since he is an experienced and truly a battlefield general, who has come a long way from Division Commander to Major General, Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations. Aliaksandr Shamko was appointed Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations in2008. He is known for his diligence to the set tasks, discipline, and accuracy, which is proved by the state awards.
The new head of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism expressed his gratitude for trust in him and noted that there is not time for adopting and he has to start working straight away trying to achieve the set goals in the shortest time possible. Aliaksandr Shamko also stressed that sees a lot of potential in the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and is sure that the Ministry’s employees will cope with the current problems.
As it was reported previously, Lukashenka fired former Minister of Sport and Tourism Alieh Kachan for the flop at London Olympics as the president ordered the athletes to win minimum 25 medals, but Belarusian team returned home with 12 only.
