Political prisoner Mikalaj Statkievich was transferred from a penal colony to the prison in Mahiliou, Charter'97 says.
His wife Maryna Adamovich says authorities create such conditions for Statkievich as if everyone forgot about him. He never received a single book, brochure or newspaper sent to him.
The political prisoner is also barred from visiting a chapel or talking to a priest. The last time Statkievich met a priest was last Easter.
Mikalaj Statkievich is the last currently arrested former presidential candidate.
On January 12, 2012, a court decided to transfer Statkievich from a penal colony with a milder regime and less strict security to prison as he was found a malicious violator of prison rules.
His wife Maryna Adamovich says everything is done to break Mikalaj Statkievich.
