Among those released on December 13 is the oldest political prisoner

The oldest political prisoner in Belarus, 70-year-old Belarusian pensioner Sofia Bachurinskaya, was released and taken to Ukraine, noted «Mediazona».

Sofia was detained in December 2024 and charged under articles concerning insulting Lukashenka and slandering him (articles 368 and 367 of the Criminal Code), insulting a government official (article 369 of the Criminal Code), and participating in an "extremist formation" (article 361-1 of the Criminal Code). The court sentenced her to two years in a penal colony; she served her sentence in women's penal colony IK-4 in Gomel.

Before her detention, Bachurinskaya had been involved in network marketing for several years and also traveled extensively – she visited several EU countries, as well as Ukraine.
